I Just Like The Shirt

There are those classic moments in one’s life that make you feel older. And frankly, most moments don’t leave a good taste in my mouth.
But on a busy May day, while waiting in a checkout line, I noticed a young adult flipping through a teenage magazine. While to each their own on their reading picks, I wanted to get my hands on the news magazine that, of course, was right behind her. In a polite way I moved in on the magazine saying excuse me and got it.
But as I was getting back beside my cart, I noticed a familiar symbol on her t-shirt. To many of us, it is even considered an icon – Pink Floyd’s 1973 album art off of their infamous Dark Side of the Moon album. Having a nostalgic moment, I laughed and said to her, “That was one of Floyd’s best albums, wasn’t it?” The girl looked at me dumbfounded and asked “Who’s Floyd?” I was speechless for a second and then mustered, “Pink Floyd – that’s the group’s album art on your shirt.” She looked down at it and nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and replied back, “Oh, I didn’t know that. I just liked the design.”
